How to Get Started
Blue Channel Therapy provides mental health therapy primarily to children and youth aged birth-25 and their caregivers. We specialize in EMDR, Play Therapies and Neurofeedback. We have offices in Arvada, Aurora and Northglenn and can provide therapy in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean and Swahili.

In this phone call we will:
1. Collect information to help us assess what type of therapy services would be the best fit.
2. Assess your Medicaid/Insurance/Payment method for the cost.
4. Select a therapist
5. Set up a 1st appointment.
If we can't met your needs our staff will help you find an outside provider who will.

About US
The mission of Blue Channel Therapy is to improve the quality of life for children, youth, and families through affordable, high-quality mental health therapy provided by therapists and interns trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Our vision is to reverse the impact that adverse childhood experiences have on current and future generations.
In an Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study conducted by Kaiser Permanente and the CDC, nearly 1 in 6 adults reported experiencing four or more types of ACEs. Some examples of ACEs include sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, living in a home where caregivers abuse substances or have mental health issues. According to the study, "...ACEs are costly. ACEs can have lasting negative effects on health, well-being, and opportunities. These experiences can increase risks for injuries, sexually transmitted infections, maternal and child health problems, teen pregnancies, involvement in human trafficking, and a wide range of chronic diseases and leading causes of death such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and suicide. Children growing up with toxic stress may have difficulty forming healthy, stable relationships. They may also have unstable work histories as adults and struggle with finances, jobs, and depression throughout life. These effects can also be passed on to their own children. Some children may face increased exposure to toxic stress due to historical and ongoing traumas from systemic racism or the impacts of poverty resulting from limited educational and economic opportunities.
In the CDC's plan to reduce the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), early intervention and treatment of toxic stress are called for. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based practice that is well-researched and highly effective in treating symptoms related to traumatic stress. An important aspect of EMDR Therapy is that it builds resilience and decreases the likelihood of new adverse events creating traumatic/toxic stress.
Blue Channel Therapy offers EMDR therapy to children, adolescents, and adults to improve their quality of life and decrease the negative impact on their health and future outcomes.
Blue Channel Therapy is also committed to providing high-quality training and supervision for new therapists and EMDR providers.

Master Level Therapists (LSW, LPCC, SWC): $150 ($85-$150)

Brain Map (First Session)
Private pay: $400 Sliding scale ($300-400)
With covered insurance: $200 (Sliding $175)
Sessions are typically two times per week for about 40 sessions
Sessions are 38-45mins
Private pay per session $140 (Sliding $90-$140)
Medicaid: all sessions are free except brain map which is $175 (we can do a payment plan $35 per month)
Cigna: sessions are at your individuals plan's rate and brain maps are ($175-200)
BCBS: Some plans include Nuerofeedback check with your insurance for coverage and session costs. Brain maps ($175-$200)

Key Responsibilities
- Lead fundraising and development efforts to support organizational sustainability.

- Oversee financial management and review and approve an annual budget and review quarterly financial reports.
- Act at all times in accordance with the highest ethical standards and in the best interest of the Blue Channel Therapy, its members, constituents, donors and reputation.
Ideal candidates will have:
- A strong commitment to advancing mental health equity.
- Professional skills in areas such as fundraising and/or finance/accounting or related fields.
- A collaborative spirit, open-mindedness, and a willingness to actively contribute.
- No prior board experience is required—we welcome individuals eager to grow into this role.
We believe that poor/unacceptable behavior on the part of businesses and government disproportionately hurts the most marginalized people in society, including people of color, people from lower-income backgrounds, women, LGBTQIA+ people, and people with disabilities. Because we believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities. We recognize that being the only person with a specific identity on a board is not ideal, so we welcome paired cohort applications. This means two people would apply together, and if selected, both would join the board or decline together.

Meetings and time commitment
The board of directors meets quarterly (January, April, July, October) on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. We meet virtually and try to keep the meeting length within one hour. The board also participates in periodic fundraising activities. BCT board members commit to a 2 year term with the option to renew up to 2 times.

Volunteer for non-profit mental health therapy
Volunteer Team: As a young five-year-old, non-profit clinic that has grown quickly in size, we are now focusing on developing a highly valued team of volunteers passionate about our vision to reverse the impact that adverse childhood experiences have on current and future generations. We would be excited to have you join us!
Time commitment: 2-3 hrs/wk; car required; background check/fingerprints required.
