About
The mission of Blue Channel Therapy is to improve the quality of life for children, youth, and families through affordable, high-quality mental health therapy provided by therapists and interns trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Our vision is to reverse the impact that adverse childhood experiences have on current and future generations.
In an Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study conducted by Kaiser Permanente and the CDC, nearly 1 in 6 adults reported experiencing four or more types of ACEs. Some examples of ACEs include sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, living in a home where caregivers abuse substances or have mental health issues. According to the study, "...ACEs are costly. ACEs can have lasting negative effects on health, well-being, and opportunities. These experiences can increase risks for injuries, sexually transmitted infections, maternal and child health problems, teen pregnancies, involvement in human trafficking, and a wide range of chronic diseases and leading causes of death such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and suicide. Children growing up with toxic stress may have difficulty forming healthy, stable relationships. They may also have unstable work histories as adults and struggle with finances, jobs, and depression throughout life. These effects can also be passed on to their own children. Some children may face increased exposure to toxic stress due to historical and ongoing traumas from systemic racism or the impacts of poverty resulting from limited educational and economic opportunities.
In the CDC's plan to reduce the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), early intervention and treatment of toxic stress are called for. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based practice that is well-researched and highly effective in treating symptoms related to traumatic stress. An important aspect of EMDR Therapy is that it builds resilience and decreases the likelihood of new adverse events creating traumatic/toxic stress.
Blue Channel Therapy offers EMDR therapy to children, adolescents, and adults to improve their quality of life and decrease the negative impact on their health and future outcomes.
Blue Channel Therapy is also committed to providing high-quality training and supervision for new therapists and EMDR providers.

Volunteer: In-Kind Donations and Volunteer Coordinator
Location:: 6–8 hours/month

About UsBlue Channel Therapy, based in the Denver Metro Area, a purpose-driven nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, youth, and families through affordable, high-quality mental health therapy provided by therapists and interns trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and neurofeedback.
The Volunteer RoleThis hybrid coordinator role combines volunteer engagement with in-kind donation logistics, offering the chance to lead initiatives that directly support our programs and clients. You’ll help drive efficiency, boost community visibility, and tell powerful stories along the way. As we scale our impact, we’re looking for a volunteer community catalyst who thrives at the intersection of motivating people and securing resources to fuel real change.
Key Responsibilities
- Create Volunteer Process and Materials
- Identify volunteer needs and recruit volunteers
- Coordinate volunteer scheduling, communications and track hours
- Oversee advertising for in-kind donations and manage incoming donations (inventory, sorting, reporting)
- Support on-site events and resource distribution
- Collaborate with Executive Director and Supervisors to ensure alignment between donor contributions and program needs
- Create brief impact reports and donor/volunteer highlights for the Annual Report
- This volunteer requires driving to office locations: Arvada, Northglenn, and Aurora. We will pay miles reimbursement.

Open Board Position: Fundraising Focus
We are seeking passionate, committed individual who has experience with fundraising to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a vital role in advancing our mission, ensuring strong organizational governance, and strategic decision-making. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of a growing organization and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people affected by trauma.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead fundraising and development efforts to support organizational sustainability.
- Contribute to an organizational culture that respects the diverse, individual perspectives and contributions of staff and leadership.
- Provide strategic oversight, guidance, and governance to support the organization’s mission and sustainability.
- Contribute expertise, skills, and perspectives to help shape programs, operations, and organizational growth.

We believe that poor/unacceptable behavior on the part of businesses and government disproportionately hurts the most marginalized people in society, including people of color, people from lower-income backgrounds, women, LGBTQIA+ people, and people with disabilities. Because we believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities. We recognize that being the only person with a specific identity on a board is not ideal, so we welcome paired cohort applications. This means two people would apply together, and if selected, both would join the board or decline together.

Meetings and time commitment
The board of directors meets quarterly (January, April, July, October) on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. We meet virtually and try to keep the meeting length within one hour. The board also participates in periodic fundraising activities. BCT board members commit to a 2 year term with the option to renew up to 2 times.

Career Opportunities
(Openings starting fall of 2026) Interviews will start after 2/14/2026
Our intensive clinical internship is for MAs in counseling (who can commit to their practicum and internship at our site) and Concentration year MSWs. This internship is for people who have some experience working with children and they are motivated to learn EMDR and/or Neurofeedback. This internship is typically 2 eight hour days in person and includes weekly individual and group supervision. The interns eventually carry their own caseload and get a feel of what it is like to work in outpatient therapy. All trainings are paid for and their is a stipend with a differential for people who speak languages other than English.
In addition, we hire over summer for an Employment Based internship for up coming academic year. The position is open to people with BSW or other social science bachelor's degree who speak Spanish and are passionate about working with children. The position is 16-28 hour per week paid at $25 per hour. The position entails a combination of clinical and administrative tasks including building rapport with clients/caregivers,completing screenings, communicating with caregivers, connecting families with case management resources, verifying insurance, scheduling clients and creating charts. The employment portion can be done completely virtually or a hybrid any days of the week. The internship portion receives a $500 stipend per semester and is in person.
(opening for Summer/fall of 2026) First year MSW internship: this internship is an introduction into clinical work. These candidates have experience building relationship with people and they are highly interested in working with children. This internship includes outreaching clients and families, completing intakes/biopsychosocial, intro to diagnosing and co-leading groups. This internship can be done in person or mostly virtually. This is a stipend internship with a differential for people who speak languages other than English.
(opening for summer/fall of 2026) MSW macro internship: This internship is focused on nonprofit management. It includes opportunities to participate in nonprofit management, plan and run fundraisers, write and manage grants, create community connections, develop and review policies and evaluate programs. This is a stipend internship with a differential for people who speak languages other than English.

Externships:
Our externship is designed for therapists working toward obtaining their license. Our goal is to provide high quality training in EMDR, play based therapies and supervision in a shame free learning environment. Externs must have some experience working with children and be motivated to learn EMDR. By the end of the externship, externs are licensed LCSWs or LPCs, basic trained and certified in EMDR. They are very knowledgeable of working with low income/medicaid families and prepared to work for nonprofits or start private practices. All training fees and supervision hours are included and paid for by Blue Channel Therapy.
Full-time externs (typically 2 year program) are benefited W2 employees working 30-40 hours per week. Benefits include health insurance, dental, vision, Life, paid sick days and a 403b retirement plan. (flexible schedule with exception of a commitment to after school hours) Spanish speaking candidates are highly desired and are paid a differential.
